On 12th September 2019 the Department of Finance has announced that a £16 million Dormant Account Fund will be established. This will support projects in the 3rd Sector. The Fund is funded from dormant bank and building society accounts of which they have been unable to trace the customer or the account has been untouched for 15 years or more. The money will be made available to support resilience, capacity and sustainability in the 3rd Sector. The National Lottery Community Fund has been directed by the Department of Finance to deliver the Fund and will be starting engagement with the 3rd Sector to develop a strategic action plan for the Scheme to open during this financial year.

This is terrific news for the Northern Ireland 3rd Sector and we are delighted to see Social Enterprise NI involved in setting the strategic action plan for delivery.
