A Decree Nisi is an Interim Court Order. The Decree Nisi is a certificate granted by the Court declaring the reason why the marriage broke down. In Northern Ireland, a Decree Nisi will become permanent (Decree Absolute) unless the other party can show sufficient reason for it not to be within six weeks.
