Richard Murphy
Richard Murphy is one of the best known names in private practice in N.I.
He joined what was then John G. Edwards & Co. on 1st July 1972 and, together with another partner, he took over the practice in 1974, when it became Edwards & Co. Under Richard's oversight the practice continued to expand. Over the years he ran the conveyancing and probate department and also developed the criminal and employment law fields in the firm. He has acquired unequalled expertise in police disciplinary work and many other police personnel issues as a result of representing the Police Federation for Northern Ireland for almost 40 years.
Richard was instrumental in setting up the RUC PSNI Benevolent Fund and the Police Rehabilitation and Retraining Trust and has provided ongoing practical advise and support to the USPCA for many years.
In 2006 Richard retired from the partnership but continues to contribute significantly to the firm in his ongoing capacity as consultant.
