Joanne Kerr
Joanne studied law at Queen's University Belfast, graduating in 1996.
She completed her professional training at the Institute of Professional Legal Studies and qualified as a solicitor in 1998.
She is responsible for employment law in the practice. She represents both employers and employees in relation to unfair dismissal, constructive dismissal cases and cases alleging discrimination, on the grounds of religious belief/ political opinion, sex, equal pay, disability and race. She also advises on terms and conditions of employment, disciplinary and grievance procedures. She has, in a previous post, dealt with a number of large Group Actions involving equal pay and sex discrimination issues.
She is also heavily involved in the litigation department within the practice and has extensive experience of handling claims on behalf of both Plaintiffs and Insurers. She deals with a wide range of litigation including clinical negligence, employer's liability, road traffic accidents, judicial review and commercial law cases. She was part of the legal team involved in the conduct of Northern Ireland's largest and longest running Group litigation on behalf of some 5000 police officers.
