Dennis Hamill
Dennis joined Edwards & Company in May 2007 and became a partner in our litigation department in February 2012. He previously worked for another well-respected firm in Belfast where he completed his apprenticeship and subsequently qualified as a solicitor in September 2002.
He has extensive experience across a broad range of civil litigation work. He represents Plaintiffs in personal injury claims arising out of accidents at work, road traffic accidents, fatal accident claims, industrial disease and noise induced hearing loss. He has conducted a large number of high value cases and has obtained many substantial settlements in favour of our clients. Dennis also has significant experience of acting for insurers and public bodies in relation to the defence of personal injury claims.
Dennis has considerable experience of commercial litigation to include contractual disputes, professional negligence claims, injunctions and insurance disputes. He regularly advises clients on the legal issues arising from their commercial activities. In addition to this Dennis is an experienced defamation lawyer.
Dennis leads our Debt Recovery Department. He has considerable knowledge of debt recovery and insolvency matters, acting on behalf of a number of financial institutions in repossession actions and consumer credit matters. He also acts for a range of business clients who are pursuing outstanding debts. He has a large caseload in this area and has successfully recovered large amounts of money for these clients. Dennis also deals with insolvency matters on behalf of a range of our clients including creditors who wish to bring insolvency proceedings against their debtors but also acting for debtors in an effort to address their insolvency issues. Dennis also has strong relationships with a number of local insolvency practitioners.
He also works in our regulatory law department and is experienced at investigating allegations of misconduct, preparing matters for hearing and presenting cases before conduct committees. In addition, he has been involved in representing a number of clients who were witnesses in some of the recent public inquiries in Northern Ireland.
