Edwards & Company wins Allianz Arts & Business NI Employee Engagement Award

Creativity and innovation took centre stage as 5 businesses, 2 individuals and 1 prestigious arts organisation celebrated their success at the Allianz Arts & Business NI Awards 2010 with Edwards & Company, the Belfast-based solicitor's firm, scooping the Employee Engagement Award, for their innovative arts-based training initiative delivered by their arts partner, Music Theatre 4Uth.

MT4Uth and Edwards & Company are young, vibrant and progressive companies dedicated to providing excellence. Edwards & Company came on board as headline sponsor of the MT4Uth "Master Classes from the Musicals" in 2009 allowing MT4Uth to develop their progressive training programme.

Inspired by the master classes, Edwards & Company worked with MT4Uth to develop a creative training programme to further engage its staff and bring the arts into the workplace. The programme developed confidence and presentation skills in creative ways, bringing out the best in their team, maximising return on engagement and enhancing the value and impact of the sponsorship.

Presenting the award, Adrian Toner, Head of Allianz Northern Ireland, congratulated the partnership saying:

"We believe that, now more than ever, the corporate world needs to recognise that it has a vital role to play in harnessing local and vibrant artistic talent. These awards serve to demonstrate that partner programmes can, and do, deliver great benefits not only for local communities, but additionally for the businesses involved."

David McClurg, Practice Manager, Edwards & Company, speaking about the partnership said:

"The benefits of our partnership have been amazing. We have exposed our own staff to the arts, renewing in some a desire to be more involved. The value of the creative training weekend will serve us well in the future. Our team has discovered new-found skills, that will benefit them as individuals and which will also enhance their ability to deliver on behalf of Edwards & Company. I am already looking forward to next year's programme to see how we can improve and develop it."

Recognising the success of the partnership Mary Trainor, Director of Arts & Business Northern Ireland commented:

"In what has been a challenging year economically, it is encouraging that so many NI businesses have seen the benefits from an interaction and partnership with arts organisations, recognising their impressive track record in creativity and their ability to think outside the box. Particularly in the current climate, creativity and innovation are critical if businesses are to be resilient and proactive in securing their future. This year's Award winners highlight just how effective successful arts sponsorship can be in delivering creative business solutions."
